The CISSP certification in a NutshellThe Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) is an international recognised certificate and is governed by the (ISC)2 body, for more information please visit www.isc2.org. The CISSP certification is now preferred by many organisations and required by other organisations that are searching for information security expertise. There has become a greater demand for information security practitioners over the next few years; therefore the CISSP certification is becoming even more valued in the market place in assisting organisations to identify information security professionals. To sit for the CISSP examiniation, the applicant must meet the following requirements: - Valid experience includes information systems (IS) security-related work performed as a practitioner, auditor, consultant, vendor, investigator or instructor, that requires IS security knowledge and involves the direct application of that knowledge. The five years of experience must be the equivalent of actual full-time IS security work (not just IS security responsibilities for a five year period); this requirement is cumulative, however, and may have been accrued over a much longer period of time. The CISSP Examination Structure The CISSP Certification examination consists of 250 multiple-choice questions. Candidates have up to 6 hours to complete the examination.
